Our Owl Extended Day Program extends the class day to 2:30pm

Our Owls afternoon program offers a flexible, enriching extension to your child's day, designed to meet the evolving needs of both children and parents. Ideal for children who benefit from more outdoor time as they grow older, the Owls program gives students the opportunity to engage in extended adventures and activities with peers.

In this program, children embark on longer hikes, tackle more focused building projects, and dive into art and creative expression. With an emphasis on independent play and group collaboration, Owls fosters deeper connections with nature and encourages children to develop new skills and interests.

One of the unique features of Owls is its flexibility. Parents can easily add extra days whenever needed, without the commitment of a regular weekly schedule. Whether your work schedule changes, or you simply want your child to spend more time outdoors, the Owls program allows you to sign up for any number of days that suit your family’s needs. Many families choose to enroll for a regular Owls schedule, ensuring their child has a consistent rhythm to their afternoons, but drop-in days are also welcome, giving families the option to adjust plans as necessary throughout the week.

Launched in January 2024 in response to feedback from our parent community, the Owls program has become an integral and beloved part of our forest school offerings, supporting both children and families in a way that is responsive, thoughtful, and accommodating.

Cost
  • $56/day for 8:30am to 12pm students. (extends class 2.5hrs)
    • 1 day a week $213 per month​*
    • 2 days a week $426 per month*
    • 3 days a week $638 per month*
    • 4 days a week $851 per month*
    • 5 days a week $1042 per month
  • $45/day for 9am to 12pm students.  (extends class 2hrs)​
    • 1 day a week $171 per month*
    • 2 days a week $342 per month*
    • 3 days a week $513 per month*
    • 4 days a week $684 per month*
    • 5 days a week $837 per month​​
      *Will be less if enrolled in Monday due to scheduled holidays

For children who are not enrolled in a morning class but wish to attend just the Owls program, the cost is $56, and they will be with us from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM.

Little Buds Aftercare with Teacher Kayla

Looking for a warm, gentle transition from your child’s forest school day? Little Buds offers a home-based aftercare program, lovingly led by early childhood educator Kayla, with part-time support from the wonderful Teacher Jenna. Each afternoon includes lunch & afternoon snack, nap time, and plenty of time for play, art, cooking, outdoor adventures, and cozy connection. Rooted in child-led, nature-inspired care, Little Buds is a safe, loving space where kids can unwind, explore, and feel right at home. Program runs Monday–Friday, 12:30–5:30 PM. Location: Ingleside neighborhood of San Francisco. Just a heads up for clarity:
Our own Owls program runs directly after the morning session until 2:30 PM and is fully outdoors and packed with all the usual forest magic. Little Buds, in contrast, is a cozy indoor/home-based afternoon with lunch, nap time, and plenty of time for unhurried play and gentle connection.
